Packers lose 26-0 to the f'ing Bears in their opener. Thank goodness I wasted my afternoon watching that pile of garbage.
What went wrong?
Where o where to begin? Let's start with the defense. Both Harris and Woodson got torched repeatedly during the game and Manuel blew his coverage 2 minutes into the game. Continuing with the trend from last season, the Packers make mediocre QB's look like Pro-Bowlers. For an offense that was one of the worst last season, the Packers made them look like Colts.
On offense, it's nice to see that Favre is still able to just overthrow the ball and make stupid decisions to completely ruin any chance of respectability in the game. Also, what the hell happened on the 3rd down conversions, especially the short ones? 1-11 conversions on 3rd down is downright pitiful. The early conversions where we blew it on 3rd and 1 twice early in the game were especially hurtful. Both Clifton and Tauscher, the supposed rocks of the line were outplayed by the rookies. For the most part, the OL looked lost.
Special teams were dreadful. Why can't the Packers find a decent special teams coach? I mean, it's been what, 7-8 years where we have had a decent punt/kickoff returns or coverage?
What went right?
Not much here. Ahman Green looked good and had that explosiveness and power back, he just has crappy blocking. I thought that the pass rush looked good overall. Far more pressures than last year. Barnett and Hawk had a decent game each, especially when blitzing. Pass coverage for both were spotty, although Barnett did get the INT. The run defense was real good. The Bears are known for being a run team and the Pack only allowed 3 yds/carry and 109 yds rushing overall. Last year, this team would have given up about 160 -170 yds rushing in a game like this. They also did a nice job in the red zone of not allowing a TD (hey, I'm trying to find some silver lining here).

My preseason was 5-11 for this team...I mighthave been optimistic.
Wait until they face a real passing team.
I was so depressed last night...at least the Colts won, but it still didn't soothe a Pack loss.
I don't mind losing occasionally if you look good, but looking embarrassingly bad on the field hurts.
Is it too late to back out of my 8-8 prediction?
I'm thinking about my 7-9 as being too high.
Well, the Bears have one of the best defenses in the league and the Packers have a new HC, OC and new offensive scheme. In retrospect, we should have expected this.
Welcome to NFL mediocrity. The Vikings and Lions have kept a seat warm for you.
5-11. I'm as big of a fan as anyone, but this group stinks to high heaven.
McCarthy won't make Thanksgiving.
