The lamentation of Sheets

It was reported that in yesterday's outing Ben Sheets had "discomfort" in his latissimus dorsi in the bottom of the first inning and had to leave the game. This is the same muscle that Sheets tore last season and had to have surgery on. Oh crap.

That's it, the season is kaput! The Brewers need their ace in order to get to 90 wins this season and a shot at the wild card. Without him, we have no hope.

Oh cruel baseball gods, why hath thou unleashed this fate upon? Why wouldst thou raise our hopes and dreams to make us purchase expensive team merchandise then lay this disaster upon us? Have not the fans of the Brewers suffered enough throughout time?

You delivered us from the hell-hole that was County Stadium to Miller Park.

You delivered us from the incompetence that was Wendy Selig-Prieb and gave us Mark Attanasio.

You gave us Fielder, Hardy and Weeks along with a farm system that is the envy of baseball.

And for all these things we are grateful, but please don't take away our Sheets. We'll make Bernie Brewer slide back into the giant mug of beer for homeruns again should that please you. We'll even let the Italian sausage win a couple of races. I'll even swear off any beer other than those made in WI.

We need our ace. Please.
